Etymology of BLACK MUSLIM
The term "Black Muslim" is a phrase commonly used to refer to members of the religious movement known as the Nation of Islam (NOI). The etymology of the term can be understood by examining the origins and beliefs of the Nation of Islam. Nation of Islam was founded in Detroit, Michigan, in 1930 by Wallace Fard Muhammad, who is considered the movement's founder. Fard Muhammad taught that African Americans were the original people who had been systematically oppressed and marginalized by white society.
