Alaska Y Dinarama is a Spanish musical group formed in the early 1980s. The band is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of the Spanish movida movement, a cultural and artistic movement that emerged after the death of General Francisco Franco in 1975, marking the transition to democracy in Spain.
The group was originally formed as Alaska Y Los Pegamoides in 1980, consisting of members Alaska (real name Olvido Gara), Nacho Canut, Ana Curra, and Eduardo Benavente. However, they later changed their name to Alaska Y Dinarama after the departure of Benavente and the addition of guitarist Carlos Berlanga.
Alaska Y Dinarama gained significant popularity with their unique blend of new wave, punk, and electronic music styles, characterized by Alaska's distinctive and powerful vocals. Their music often featured catchy melodies and provocative lyrics, addressing themes such as love, social issues, and personal experiences.
